Even if you do not utilize my services today, I would still love to learn about you, your business, and your goals - so that I am ready to provide you with the service you need.... when you need it!

Comparison

My goal is to ensure clients obtain the best value they can get, so I want to help ensure clients obtain the right on-going services for their needs. If you aren't sure which service is best for you, the following will help provide the insight you need!

Retainer

My Retainers offer a better value to clients who either have a consistent workflow or want on-demand services. When you want a developer who is ready to provide services as soon as you need it, inquire about my Retainer Services!

When a client establishes a retainer, they are reserving a block of time that is specifically allocated to them on a weekly or monthly basis. Since this time is specifically dedicated to the client, they do not have to worry about whether or not I am "available" to provide the services they need. This is most beneficial to clients who want faster turn around and guaranteed availability.
My Retainers can be provided on either an hourly-rate or flat-rate structure (just as my Ad-Hoc Services are). Please read the sections labeled "Hourly-Rate Structure" and "Flat-Rate Structure" under "Ad-Hoc Services" for more information regarding how the two structures differ.
Retainers are only provided on either a weekly or monthly basis; the amount of time you reserve is provided to you during the Retainer Duration and must be used by the end of the retainer. Clients may establish a Service Agreement to receive discounts for multiple Retainers that they will be establishing over a longer Service Period.
The minimum number of hours that a client can retain is either 10 hours per month or 2.5 hours per week. There are only 80 hours available, per month, for retainers and my Retainer Services will be suspended once it is fully booked up.
If you do not need on-going development services and only want to ensure your website is up-to-date and have back-ups (that you can actually use) produced, clients may opt for a Maintenance Retainer. Receive weekly updates and back-ups for only $500/mo; however, additional discounts can apply when obtaining longer service periods or paying in advance!

Ad-Hoc Services

My Ad-Hoc Services are most effective for clients who have varying workloads or do not need on-demand services. Most economical for clients who have less than 72 hours/yr (or less than 6 hours/mo) of work.

Retainers may provide on-demand services, but clients happen to pay for the dedicated block of time whether they use it or not. My Ad-Hoc Services allow you to pay for only the services you use, but all as-needed services are subject to availability. Clients can save big by opting for my Ad-Hoc Services, but could see longer period of time before approved tasks are completed.
Clients can establish a Pseudo-Retainer when they pay for my Ad-Hoc Services in advance; however, this is NOT the same thing as a retainer. Pseudo-Retainers are still provided on an as-needed basis until the last month of the Service Period (1 month per each 5 hours paid for in advance). On the last month, any time available is dedicated to the client to ensure they have the opportunity to utilize all of the time they have available. Pseudo-Retainers can be beneficial for clients who know they have future needs, want a discount, but do not know when they may need my services. Pseudo-Retainers also reduce the per-task minimum to 1 hour (down from 3).
The Hourly-Rate Structure provides the client the opportunity to pay per each "billable" hour; time is billed in 30 minute intervals (rounded up or down) once the minimum has been met. Pseudo-Retainers (on this structure) will see the term "Available Hours" which will be deducted from as tasks are completed; which can provide more value when tasks are completed in less time than estimated.
The Flat-Rate Structure allows the client to be provided with a "Task-Rate" and they pay a single fixed-rate for completion of the task (regardless of how long the task takes to complete). Pseudo-Retainers (on this structure) will see the term "Available Budget" which will be deducted from as tasks are completed; which can provide more value when tasks take longer to complete than estimated.
Given that my Ad-Hoc Services are provided on an as-needed basis, clients who need on-demand services will have to opt for Priority Service. Priority Service is billed at the standard rate of $125/hr (or estimated using the standard rate) and comes with an additional cost of either 25% of the total task-rate or $250 (whichever is greater). Opting for Priority Service will provide your task with ultimate priority and your task will be moved to the front of the queue and completed immediately; tasks that must be completed within 48 hours, outside of my business hours, during weekends, or on holidays, will automatically be billed as a Priority Task.

Still not sure?

Don't worry, I work with all of my clients to ensure they get the exact service they need (even though they may not know they need it right now). Contact me today and I will let you know whether my On-Demand or As-Needed services are more suitable for you - based on you, your business, and your goals!

Either way, you are covered!

Regardless of whether you opt to use my Retainer Services or my Ad-Hoc Services, I aim to provide long-term support for my clients. While my Retainer Services can give more peace of mind, I will work with my clients (who opt for Ad-Hoc Services) to ensure they can get their tasks completed as well. I'm in business to build long-term relationships with my clients and want to ensure your project continues to get the same level of quality that was provided during the initial build of your project. I have specifically tuned my services to prevent the chances that I will end up overbooked or have to turn work away!

Protect your investment!

When you invest a serious amount into your business website, it will need on-going support to keep that investment optimized for maximum success. If you are looking to continue improving your website, inquire about my on-going services. Clients who need more than a developer (want someone who actively seeks out and implements new effective solutions) will not see maximum value out of these On-Going Services. If you want more, ask me about my Goal-Oriented Retainers which are designed to maximize the return on your investment!

The best advice I can give is to choose the service you feel is best suited for you! Retainers are best suited for clients who need on-demand services and see more value in getting their tasks completed more quickly than maximizing the number of hours they have available. Ad-Hoc Services are best suited for clients who only want to pay for what they use, but are okay with longer turn-around times for completion of their tasks. I will work with you to help you obtain the right service for your needs, but the two have their own pros and cons that clients need to consider.
I aim to ensure that I perform work within the same year that I am compensated for it. As the year continues, rates will be adjusted to provide clients with an opportunity of obtaining my lowest rates as longer Service Periods may become unavailable. Services will be unavailable to obtain within November and will become available again in January. This adjustment is not represented on the website and clients will be informed as to what rates and service periods are available when they are looking to obtain services.
A "Task" is defined as a collection of Related Tasks; related tasks are multiple tasks within the same project or the same task on multiple projects. When referring to the per-task minimum, this does not mean each individual task; instead, it references each collection of tasks that the client provides. It is recommended (and preferred) for clients to aggregate tasks together to maximize the value out of my services. Both Retainers and Pseudo-Retainers come with a 1 hour per-task minimum and as-needed Ad-Hoc Services come with a 3 hour per-task minimum.
Clients who opt for the "Hourly-Rate" structure should know that they are NOT paying for each individual minute that I provide them; to the contrary, clients are ONLY paying for the time that is actively spent in pursuit of completing the task at hand. Clients can see 3 hours (in total) and only be billed for a single (1) "billable" hour; the other two hours may be categorized as "non-billable" time. The reason my rates are higher is because of how I define what is "billable" and what is "non-billable"; almost every client will see better value out of my services versus another developer charging between $50/hr to $75/hr due to what I define as "billable" time.
I work with a lot of Professional Clients (other website development professionals who outsource their client's projects to me) and some of them have been kind enough to inform me as to how much they charge their client in total. Most of my Professional Clients charge between $50/hr to $75/hr (give or take); however, my rates have been specifically designed to produce total costs that are 30% to 40% less than what my Professional Clients would charge their clients. On average, if a Direct Client was to compare the "total" costs of my services against one of my Professional Clients, my Direct Clients will pay 30% to 40% less utilizing my services (even at the highest rate of $125/hr) and will often see much more value. I would have to charge between $150/hr to $225/hr to produce the same "total" cost that my Professional Clients do, even though they charge between $50/hr to $75/hr. If you aren't sold on this, I will gladly introduce you to one (or more) of my Professional Clients and let them compete with me directly; even if they beat my rate, I'm still guaranteed to land a bit of work on your project (a total win/win for me)!
I want to ensure that all of my clients get the best value possible! If you obtain a Pseudo-Retainer and are unable to utilize all of the time by the end of the Service Period, I am going to work with you to provide you with as much time as possible. If you sign a Service Agreement for a Retainer and find you no longer need it, I am going to work with you to help you out. I understand that things happen and I am not in the business to screw over my clients! If you end up in a bind, please let me know and I will do everything that I can to work with you to give you the most value possible!
